Teaching children the language of feelings

ORGANIC LEARNING PROJECT

What We Do
We are a group of networked schools with a common vision of developing the emotional literacy of our children, which then impacts on their learning and behaviour in a positive way. We seek to teach the language they need to express their feelings, build self-esteem and develop relationships.

How We Do It
Different practical strategies are used in the classroom ,and on a whole school basis, to develop positive language. (see schools section for ideas) Good practice is shared between schools with peer support and mentoring. Resource boxes of ideas are used and adapted. Training courses are used to develop understanding and skills shared. Children's conferences are an opportunity for the children to set up stalls of ideas to share with each other and do learning journeys round different schools.

Where We do It
School to school, network to network, 'Bring and Brag' twilight sessions, Annual conferences, international visits and through various publications.

You Can Do It Too!
Look at the ideas from each school on the website to see which strategies would be useful for you and then adapt them to suit your setting. For information on publications etc email sue@buck133.freeserve.co.uk
